J. Ortiz , Ph.D.

Biography

Dr. Ortiz was born in Mexico City, Mexico. He completed a BSc in Metallurgy and Materials at Instituto Politécnico Nacional-ESIQIE (Escuela Superior de Ingeniería Química e Industrias Extractivas). He obtained a Masters degree in Metallurgy and Materials Science at the Universidad Michoacana (México) under the supervision of Prof. M. E. Contreras García.

Later, he obtained his Ph.D. in Metallurgy and Materials under the supervision of Prof. C. Gómez-Yáñez and Prof. H. Pfeiffer at the IPN-ESIQIE, working on the chemical synthesis of lithium ceramics for the CO2 capture. Dr. Ortiz had two different postdoctoral positions; at the Membanes and Energy Laboratory, Arizona State University (Department of Chemical Engineering, ASU, USA) and Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana (Grupo de Investigación en Química de Materiales, UAM-AZC, Mexico) under the supervision of Prof. Jerry Lin, and Prof. Marisela Maubert, respectively.

In 2015 he got a permanent position at the Departamento de Metalurgia y Materiales, ESIQIE-IPN, where he has been working in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
